Divorces in the county are handled by two courts: the Chancery Court and the Circuit Court. Under the Tennessee Public Records Act and Supreme Court Rule 34, divorce records are presumed public, with the exception of sensitive personal and financial details. To access a divorce record, individuals may search the Tennessee Case Finder (if filed with the Circuit Court) or the Hamilton County Online Court Records System (if filed with the Chancery Court).

To obtain a copy of a record, inquirers may make a request at the respective clerk’s office at the courthouse. For records with the Chancery Court, requesters may also submit the Public Records Request Form in person or by mail.
